Good morning Wrestling (animal) fans! This is Sean from Wrestling911.com and today we have a beastly topic! We are going to cover the top five animals in pro wrestling! Everything's under consideration here, from Mantaur the half man to Hulk Hogan's 24 inch pythons! Let's get started!

#5 on today's list is the British Bulldogs and their actual British bulldog Matilda! Wrestling together from 1983 to 1990, the British Bulldogs were one of the most popular tag teams in pro wrestling history. The Dynamite Kid and Davey Boy Smith were superstars in 1980s WWF wrestling. They were joined by their mascot Matilda, who was the center of many of their storylines. Poor Matilda was kidnapped by Bobby Heenan in a feud with the Islanders, and supposedly hated The Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart!

#4 Koko B Ware and his bird Frankie! Born in 1957, Koko was the perrennial underdog in the WWE... or should I saw underbird... no underdog sounds better. Ware came to the ring with a blue and yellow macaw named Frankie, and he would flap his arms like a bird while coming to the ring. Macaws are actually an incredibly intelligent bird. There are 19 species of macaw, including extince and critically endangered birds.

#3 Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat - I know, you were thinking we were going to go with the Red Rooster, but the Dragon was one of the most popular wrestlers of the mid 1980s. Known for Amazing matches Randy Savage and Ric Flair, this wrestling legend was named for his physical similarities to the Dragon Bruce Lee. Near the end of his WWF career, Ricky even carried a so called dragon to the ring, and learned how to spit fire like a real dragon. The so called dragon in question was actually a monitor lizard. We can only thank Vince McMahon for that.

#2 George "The Animal" Steele - George Steele is the only animal on our list who didn't actually need a mascot to make the list, although Animal and Hawk from the Road Warriors were in strong consideration. With his hairy back, green tongue and desire to eat turnbuckles, this wrestler was a crowd favorite in the ring and at the zoo.




#1 Jake "The Snake" Roberts and his python Damien! In real life, Jake wasn't known to take very good care of his animals, and his treatment of various snakes would be considered deplorable by today's standards, but you can't help but admit that watching Jake hit the DDT and cover opponents was Saturday morning entertainment at it's fullest.
